A modern take on the classic italian villa, DBE #3 was developed with the goal of creating a large central courtyard. The original structure was maintained and renovated. A new exposed concrete structure was developed on the perimeter of the existing house, thus crating a large central courtyard. The new perimeter structure created new opportunities for perimeter private courtyards, exteriors bathrooms and gardens. New vs. old is easily identifiable by its materiality. White plastered walls on existing walls vs. exposed concrete on new perimeter structure give the residence a clear architectural vocabulary on its construction's history.
